So here we go again, my attempt at expressing a dissenting opinion of a popular myth. The common belief is funny women don\u2019t win when it comes to relationships. I can\u2019t link to any studies to support this theory, but I\u2019m pretty sure most of us have heard it from other people or seen it played out one way or another.\r\n## Why Humor Is Underrated in Women\r\nThey say a woman with a joke is something like a woman with a tool belt, sure it may be useful, but it\u2019s unnecessary. Funny duties are a man\u2019s responsibility, partly because when we\u2019re out in the streets trying to seduce a woman, humor can be our best weapon. Very few of us are fortunate enough to just stand around, we have to crack a joke to take down a woman\u2019s defenses. Women on the other hand, just have to have a nice smile and a laugh that doesn\u2019t sound like a call to the wild. I agree with none of this, and I bemoan anybody who does, especially other funny women. I like funny women. What I don\u2019t like is funny women who think their sense of humor is a cross to bear. And I think more than the guys who say they don\u2019t want a woman who can crack jokes, or they don\u2019t care for them, it\u2019s other women contributing to this idea. Women, men like wit. Not all men, but a lot more men than some would have you believe. I can\u2019t remember a time in my life when a woman has made me laugh and I immediately thought to myself, \u201cI wish she wouldn\u2019t have done that.\u201d Not only do I support the woman who knows how to make people laugh, I\u2019m about this close to making it a requirement. If anything, chances are, it\u2019s the funny women I dated who I think about the most. A funny woman is usually a smart woman, someone who can find some hilarity in the random, or knows how to poke fun at me in such a way where even I can laugh. Do you people have any idea how much intelligence that takes? It\u2019s not easy, so when I find that quality in a woman, I don\u2019t want to do anything but keep it close. I truly believe the humor in a relationship is a shared responsibility. It\u2019s on us, not just me, to have inside jokes, and memories we can laugh at months and years down the road. I want someone to make me LOL, just as much as I want them to LOL at my jokes. Everybody, and I do mean everybody, appreciates someone who can make them laugh. The only people we aren\u2019t welcoming to the laugh fest are the people who think they\u2019re funny and they\u2019re really not. We all know someone like that and we all try keep ourselves as far away from them as possible. But ladies, if you are funny, don\u2019t hide it. Use it, make a man laugh. It may not be enough to keep him forever, but I\u2019m pretty sure things ended for reasons other than your ability to make him laugh on the daily.
